The Chinese Company Vivo announced in the beginning of March their new phone Xplay 5 which came in two versions: Xplay 5 and Xplay 5 Elite (with a 6 GB RAM).

Vivo Xplay 5 Elite

People were surprised with the release of the Vivo Xplay 5 Elite since it is the first smartphone with a 6GB RAM and has a curved screen which is similar to the screen of Samsung’s Galaxy Edge series.

It is designed with full steel exterior. The screen is a 5.43 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with a resolution of 1440x2560 pixels and covered in a layer of Corning Gorilla 4 scratch and break resistant glass.

Xplay 5 Elite has quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor with a 128 GB internal storage as it does not support an additional SD card.

The rear camera has a resolution of 16 MP (made by Samsung), and an 8MP front camera. As for the battery, it is powered by a 3600 mAh battery.

It is a dual sim card phone and is powered by a 5.1 Android version (Lollipop).

Xplay 5 Elite also have fingerprint recognition and it is placed on the back cover.

Vivo Xplay 5

The company also announced Vivo Xplay 5, which is slightly different than Xplay 5 Elite when it comes to the processor and RAM capacity.

Vivo Xplay 5 has an eight core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor and a 4GB RAM.

Other than these, there is no difference between the phones. Note that this change was to provide more affordable prices to everyone even though it is only a 100 USD difference.

Vivo Xplay 5 and Vivo Xplay 5 Elite will be released to the market in March 2016 (according to the company).

There is no doubt that Xplay 5 series are unique phones, and they are affordable considering their high specs.

According to Vivo Company, the Xplay 5 will cost 565 USD (2114 SAR’s) and Xplay 5 Elite will be 655 USD (2452 SAR’s) before taxes.

The 8^th of March 2016 will be the date of the release to the Chinese market. It is estimated that the phones will be available 5 days later to different markets (first quarter of March).
